‘7Women1Man’; A Contemporary Photography Exhibit At Albertini Arts Gallery In The Wynwood Art District

MIAMI, FL (January, 2008) — Co-curated by K. Steffner and R. Diaz-Albertini the exhibit is a concentration of works that allow each artist to explore themes related to feminine imagery on their own terms. It is a statement and a question. The photographs are moving and represent different viewpoints related to women, but it is left to the viewer to determine whose lens they are looking through, the lens of a man or the lens of a woman (hence, artists first names have been omitted from the title cards).

There are many striking images by this group of talented and creative artists; such as a collection of eerie photos depicting a young woman who appears to be lost, a whimsical series of flowing nightgowns, and some very interesting life-sized photography / mixed media pieces.

Exhibiting artists include: Miami based artists A. Moussawel, G. Saiz, H. Martin-Owen, J. Valentine, J.M. Cabrera, N. Rodriguez, S. Ballard and K. Steffner.

The exhibit is on view February 9th through March 1st from 11am - 5pm Tuesday through Friday & 12 - 7pm on Saturdays (after hours by appt) with receptions scheduled on Saturday February 9th from 7pm – 11pm & Saturday March 1st from 7pm – 11pm.

Active participants in The ‘Wynwood Art District Second Saturday Gallery Walk’ Albertini Arts host monthly cocktail receptions to allow patrons the opportunity to mingle with the featured artists & discuss their works. The next exhibit ‘Figures & Forms’ opens on the ‘Second Saturday’, March 8th, from 7-11pm. Curated by resident artist Kris Steffner the group show, presents 8 local artists, whose current work features various interpretations of the human form in an assortment of mediums and styles. Works range from more classical figurative to edgy, sketchy, pop pieces. While some focus on beauty, others are an obvious commentary on our culture’s obsession with it.

“Our primary goal as a gallery is to bring art to the public and make it more a part of daily life and I plan to surprise patrons with a series of future events such as live painting, poetry readings, live music and much much more” states curator and resident artist Kris Steffner.

Albertini Arts is located at 190 NW 36 Street in ‘The Wynwood Art District’ just south of ‘The Miami Design District’ and 2-blocks west of ‘The Midtown Mall’. For additional information please call (305) 576-ART1, visit http://www.AlbertiniArts.com, or email AlbertiniArts@gmail.com

‘Decadence & Decay’; A Group Exhibition At Albertini Arts Gallery In The Wynwood Art District

MIAMI, FL (April, 2008) — Curated by resident artist Kris Steffner the exhibition features various works which incorporate the human skeleton as subject. Hidden but intrinsic to all living beings, the human skeleton has long been a subject of fascination often revealing itself in art, literature and philosophy.

Exhibiting works range from classical to modern; while some focus on anatomy, others take a more humorous tone by poking fun at our ongoing and understandably invested interest in our own beauty and mortality.

There are many striking images by this group of talented artists; such as a collection of mixed medium paintings representing the artists inner struggle with the often paralyzing fear of what happens to ones art if your creativity ceases to flow, a group of mixed medium collages where the artist recycles found materials to create new images and a series of very intriguing mixed medium ceramic sculptures where the artist pokes fun at the theory that ‘ignorance is bliss’ as well as some graffiti style wearable art.

Exhibiting artists include: Eric Sparhawk Edwards, Fernando Ganas, Joseph Fischer, Laurie Vaughn, Melissa Markowitz, Tony Rosca and Kris Steffner.

The exhibit is on view May 10 through June 7from 11am - 5pm Tuesday through Friday & 12 - 7pm on Saturdays (after hours by appt) with receptions scheduled on Saturday May 10th from 7pm – 11pm & Saturday June 7from 7pm – 11pm featuring live music by Renee Fiallos & Mike Woods.
